Description
Theoretical and Practical3 D Seismic Attributes for Prospect Identification
Course Description
Theoretical and historical developments of major seismic attributes algorithms are explained.
It is stressed that the recognition of fault trends, fractures, channels, the curvature of structural units, and reservoir characterization can be managed using seismic attributes.
It turns out that different attributes reflect different physical properties of subsurface units.
Prerequisites (Knowledge/Experience/Education required)
No specific detailed foreknowledge is required, although a familiarity with geological and geophysical terminology will be useful. Advanced knowledge of seismic theory is not required; this course focuses on understanding and practice.
Objective
The topics of this course are designed to enable audiences to understand the theoretical basic application of seismic attributes in addition to advanced practical software, using different cases studies, and enable audiences to practices in real projects from scratch

Who should attend?
- Seismic interpreters who want to extract more information from their data.
- Seismic processors and imagers who want to learn how their efforts impact subtle stratigraphic and fracture plays.
- Sedimentologists, stratigraphers, and structural geologists use large 3D seismic volumes to interpret their plays within a regional, basin-wide context.
- Reservoir engineers whose work is based on detailed 3D reservoir models and whose data are used to calibrate indirect measures of reservoir permeability.
